Sariyokhush Deresi Kurgan No. 1

Sarıyoxuş Dərəsi Kurgan No. 1 is located 7 km from the section of the Aghstafa-Poylu-Georgia state border highway, which branches off towards the “Keshikchidagh” State Historical-Cultural Reserve at the 39th km mark. The kurgan measures 16 meters along the north-south axis and 14 meters along the east-west axis.
Excavations of Sarıyoxuş Dərəsi Kurgan No. 1 revealed a richly equipped burial beneath a stone covering, dating to the Late Bronze – Early Iron Age. Initial research within the burial chamber uncovered several black-polished, ornamented pottery vessels characteristic of the Khojaly-Gedebey archaeological culture. Additionally, a bronze sword, arrowheads made of obsidian and flint, razors, and bronze accessories associated with clothing were discovered.
