Archaeological excavation work continues within the framework of the project “Scientific-Archaeological Excavations and Summer School in Keshikchidagh – 6,” located in the Valley of Kurgans on the territory of the “Keshikchidagh” State Historical and Cultural Reserve, managed by the State Service for Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture.
During the research conducted under the leadership of Vagif Asadov, PhD in History and leading researcher at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS, stone structures—cromlechs—surrounding the kurgan were uncovered, and their structural features are currently being studied. At present, the upper section of the kurgan has been divided into four sectors for step-by-step excavation. This method allows for a more precise study of the kurgan’s stratigraphic structure, constructive features, and the sequence of archaeological layers. Archaeological materials and structural elements discovered during the excavations are recorded, documented, and prepared for scientific research based on established methodology. Archaeological excavations and practical research work continue as part of the project.
