2nd Patriotic War ended with the victory of our people who demonstrated their unity and strength. On November 8, 2020, the Azerbaijani people won the great and glorious victory they had been waiting for 30 years. According to the Decree dated December 3, 2020 of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, “On the establishment of Victory Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan”, it was decided to celebrate November 8 as “Victory Day” every year in our country with the aim of perpetuating the unparalleled victory in the Patriotic War.
Victory Day – this historic day is the embodiment of the historic victory won by our brave Army under the leadership of the victorious Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev in the 44-days long military operation “Iron Fist”. It is the day when our historic lands, which were in the hands of the enemy for years, regained freedom. On the occasion of the second anniversary of this significant day, a series of events are organized in all regions of our country. One of the events carried out in connection with November 8-“Victory Day” is the initiative of the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry for Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, supported by the Aghstafa District Executive Power, activity under the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan. It was held in the territory of the “Keshikchidagh” State historical and cultural reserve with the joint organization of Aghstafa district Youth House social service enterprise. Heads of Aghstafa district administrations and organizations, district intellectuals, families of martyrs, veterans of the 44-days Patriotic War and about 25 volunteers took part in the event.
The participants of the event were welcomed in front of “The peak named after Ilham Aliyev” located in the territory of the reserve, erected in honor of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev, to the sounds of saz played in a patriotic spirit by the honored cultural worker, Ashug Huseyn Huseynov, and they were informed about “The peak named after Ilham Aliyev”. The director of the reserve, Musa Mursaguliyev, declared the event open and greeted the guests, talked about the victory won in the 44-days Patriotic War, commemorated the souls of the martyrs with a minute of silence, and their family members shared their memories of the martyrs. Mirzahid Hajiyev, chairman of the Aghstafa district branch of the Afghanistan-Azerbaijan Veterans Public Union, and Nijat Vakilov, director of the Aghstafa district Youth House social service enterprise, also spoke. Later, a flash mob took place around “The peak named after Ilham Aliyev” with our state flags and boards with pictures of martyrs from the region. With the participation of the martyrs’ families and veterans, 1 almond tree was planted in memory of each martyr from Aghstafa region in the “Almond Garden” built in memory of the heroes who martyred in #Karabakh by writing glorious history under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief around “The peak named after Ilham Aliyev”. At the end, the guests were treated to tea and a commemorative photo was taken.
