The project titled “Scientific-Archaeological Excavations and Summer School–5 in Keşikçidağ,” jointly organized by the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, is successfully ongoing.

The project titled “Scientific-Archaeological Excavations and Summer School–5 in Keşikçidağ,” jointly organized by the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, is successfully ongoing. The main objective of the project is the research and promotion of the rich cultural and archaeological heritage of the “Keşikçidağ” State Historical and Cultural Reserve. On June 11, 2025, staff members and volunteer youth from the Aghstafa Youth House “Social Service Institution” became acquainted with the archaeological excavations carried out at the “Yovshanlıdərə” kurgans under the supervision of leading researcher of the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology, PhD in History, Associate Professor Shamil Najafov. During the visit, the expedition participants observed the material-cultural artifacts discovered from the kurgans on-site and received information regarding their scientific significance. As part of the excursion, a masterclass was conducted with the participation of Shamil Najafov; leading researcher of the Institute, PhD in History, Associate Professor Vagif Asadov; and scientific researcher and restoration artist Farhad Farmanov. During the masterclass, participants were provided with a comprehensive explanation on the methodological aspects of the excavation process, the initial documentation and conservation of uncovered artifacts, as well as the scientific results derived from the research conducted in this area concerning the ancient settlement environment and cultures of the region.
