On May 24, 2025, a group of faculty members from Ganja State University conducted a scientific excursion to the “Keshikchidagh” State Historical and Cultural Reserve. During the excursion, the visitors explored the “Ilham Aliyev Peak,” along with ancient caves located along this route, including the rare frescoes depicted on the walls and ceilings, water wells, and food storage chambers. In addition to its rich historical heritage, the reserve’s breathtaking natural scenery also deeply captivated the participants. As part of the scientific tour, the reserve’s staff provided comprehensive information about the historical, archaeological, and cultural significance of the site. This visit offered participants a valuable opportunity to gain deeper insight into Azerbaijan’s rich cultural heritage. Moreover, during this visit, discussions were held on the organization of more extensive scientific excursions to the Keshikchidagh area in the future, the involvement of Ganja State University’s students, graduate, and doctoral candidates in archaeological excavations, and the conduct of scientific research by faculty members at the site. The discussions also covered the scientific supervision of excavations by faculty members specializing in history and geography, the organization of joint seminars and exhibitions, and the prospects for expanding academic cooperation. It was emphasized that these initiatives would not only provide practical experience for young researchers but also contribute to the study of Keshikchidagh’s archaeology.
