On April 16, 2025, a scientific-practical seminar was organized on the topic “New scientific research, material cultural heritage of the Gazakh-Aghstafa region and preliminary results of scientific archaeological research conducted in Aghalightepe” dedicated to the “International Day for Monuments and Sites” on April 18, jointly organized by the Aghstafa District Executive Power, the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS, “Keshikchidagh” and “Avey” State Historical-Cultural Reserves. The main goal of holding the scientific-practical seminar is to preserve the history and cultural heritage of our region and promote it to the younger generation. The scientific-practical seminar organized at the Heydar Aliyev Center of Aghstafa district was attended by employees of the Aghstafa district Executive Power, the Gazakh branch of Baku State University, the “Aghstafa Youth House” Social Service Institution, the staff of the “Avey” State Historical-Cultural Reserve, scientists who have conducted scientific research and archaeological excavations in our region, including in the territory of the reserve, history teachers working in Aghstafa district secondary education institutions, employees of historical and local history museums operating in the Gazakh-Aghstafa districts, and monument guards.
The participants first got acquainted with the exhibition consisting of material and cultural samples obtained as a result of scientific research and archaeological excavations conducted in the reserve, as well as printed products belonging to the reserve. The scientific and practical seminar was opened by the director of the reserve, Musa Mursaguliyev, who spoke about the importance of this day, our historical monuments, and the attention and care shown to historical monuments by the President of the country, Ilham Aliyev. Then, leading researcher of the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS, PhD in history, associate professor Shamil Najafov, deputy director for scientific affairs of the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS, PhD in history Zaur Hasanov, head of the Department of Ancient Near Eastern Studies of the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg, professor-doctor Martin Gruber, employee of the Gazakh branch of Baku State University, honored teacher Indira Samedova, and employee of the “Keshikchidagh” State Historical and Cultural Reserve Lala Yusifzadeh spoke and talked about the work done in our country, our region, including the research, protection, and transmission of monuments located in the territory of the Keshikchidagh caves complex to future generations.
