Archaeological excavations have been concluded carried out in the Jeuyanchukhur barrow located in the valley of Keshikchidagh barrow valley, within the project “Scientific-archaeological excavations and summer school in Keshikchidagh-2” carried out from August 15 to September 15, 2022, with the support of the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan. For this purpose, in the administrative building of the “Keshikchidagh” State historical and cultural reserve, with the participation of Yunis Nasibli, senior researcher of the reserve, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor of Baku State University and Safar Ashurov, archaeologist, associate professor of the Institute of Archeology, Ethnography and Anthropology, doctor of philosophy in history.
A round table was organized on the conclusion and results of the project “Archaeological excavations and summer school in Keshikchidagh – 2”. Speaking at the round table, Yunis Nasibli talked about the history of the Keshikchidagh caves complex, the scientific researches he conducted in the territory of the reserve, and Safar Ashurov talked about the completed archaeological excavations, discovered material and cultural samples, and the importance of the excavation. It should be noted that during the archaeological excavations carried out in the framework of the project “Scientific-archaeological excavations and summer school in Keshikchidagh-2”, fragmented fragments of a pottery jar, a bronze arrowhead belonging to the Scythians, cockle-shells and faience beads, which were probably brought from the Mediterranean sea basin, and a triangular carved idol stone were found and so on. such artifacts were discovered. These projects are expected to be continued in the future.
