According to the Decree of Heydar Aliyev dated March 26, 1998, March 31 is commemorated as the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis. This date holds special significance in terms of not forgetting the mass atrocities committed against our people and conveying historical truths to future generations.
On the occasion of March 31 – the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis, a round table discussion was organized in the administrative building of the “Keshikchidagh” State Historical and Cultural Reserve. At the beginning of the event, the blessed memory of all our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of our country was honored with a minute of silence. Later, the reserve staff noted that the March events of 1918 are among the most tragic pages in the history of Azerbaijan, emphasizing that mass killings were carried out against the peaceful Azerbaijani population in various regions of the country during that period. It was also noted that the March 31 tragedy is one of the most severe manifestations of genocide and ethnic cleansing policies carried out against our people.
