Preparatory work has commenced for the project titled “Scientific-Archaeological Excavations and Summer School-5 in Keşikçidağ”, organized jointly by the State Service for the Protection, Development, and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. Within the framework of the project, master classes are being conducted for students participating in the archaeological excavations, and yurts are being set up by reserve employees to efficiently organize the leisure time of visitors. At the same time, prior scientific research has been carried out in the areas to be excavated, and zones have been selected in accordance with the terrain. Among the numerous kurgans located in the area, those deemed most suitable for research have been selected based on complex archaeological criteria including structure, size, morphological features, spatial context, and presumed historical periods. The selected kurgans differ from others due to their archaeological potential and high scientific research value and have been prioritized for excavation. It should be noted that not only students but also master’s students, volunteers, young people, doctoral candidates, schoolchildren, and others interested in cultural heritage can participate in this summer school.
