In order to study Azerbaijan’s rich material and cultural heritage at its location and to introduce this heritage to the public, a group of tourists from Baku participated in an educational and scientific excursion to the “Keşikçidağ” State Historical and Cultural Reserve.
During the excursion, the participants first got acquainted with ancient caves located in the direction of the “Ilham Aliyev Peak” and the rare frescoes depicted on their walls and ceilings. The tourists also familiarized themselves with traces of the daily life of the ancient people living in the area – hearths, water reservoirs, and artificial carvings – and had the opportunity to imagine the lifestyle of that period. Throughout the excursion, the scientific staff and guides of the reserve answered numerous questions from the tourists in detail, providing information on the research history of the monuments, their state of preservation, and more. Such scientific excursions play a significant role in increasing interest in history, forming a sense of national identity, and fostering respect for cultural heritage.
