According to the implementation of the work plan for the first half of 2024 approved by the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan of the “Keshikchidagh” State historical-cultural reserve, the event called “Novruz traditions in Keshikchidagh” was held.
The main purpose of the event held in front of the information center belonging to the “Keshikchidagh” State Historical-Cultural Reserve is to inculcate Novruz, one of our national holidays, which preserves the ancient traditions of Azerbaijan, to the young generation, to effectively spend the leisure time of the families of martyrs and veterans of the Patriotic War, including the history located in the territory of the Keshikchidagh caves complex is the introduction of monuments. Officials of many departments and organizations located in the region, elders, intellectuals, families of martyrs and veterans also participated in the event.
The event started with the arrival of Kosa, Kechal, Bahar gizi and young people in national costumes on specially decorated Dilbaz horses to the sound of our ancient musical instruments, saz, gara zurna, drum, and oud, in the information center belonging to the “Keshikchidagh” State Historical-Cultural Reserve. Later, they got acquainted with the exhibition of Late Bronze-Early Iron Age artefacts discovered in Keshikchidagh mound valley, as well as with decorations and tents decorated with Novruz attributes. Bringing sheep to stable under the sound of tutak, dancing of girls in national costumes bringing water from the spring with a seheng on their shoulders, demonstration of “Sayachi” from folk games, singing of “Hakhishta”, “Bayati” by young girls, “Semeni dance”, performance of “Tarakama” dance are of special interest to the event. Also, “Chevkan” and “Jidir race” were held using Dilbaz horses, and the winner of the race was given a kalaghayi, one of our cultural heritage.
At the end of the event, under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief, a tree-planting action was held in the “Almond Garden” dedicated to the memory of our martyrs who fought heroically in the 44-day Patriotic War around the reserve’s information center.
