Keshikchidag caves complex

There are up to 70 natural and unnatural caves in the area of “Keshikchidag” State historical-cultural reserve, which are the heritage of our ancestors. According to the historical facts, the ages of the natural caves are around two thousands year. The majority of the caves have been created by digging or carving the cliffy sand rocks. The rocks consist of hardened sandy ground. The establishment of unnatural caves in these areas dates back to the VIII-XV centuries. Every cave has an entrance and a window. Some of the caves are square-shaped, with dome-shaped ceilings. Different with their small size, these caves were created for living and they consisted of one of a few rooms. There were bed for one person and pray rooms.
