On July 31, 2026, a joint event was held by the “Keshikchidagh” State Historical and Cultural Reserve, under the management of the State Service for Protection, Development, and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture, and the Aghstafa Youth House Social Service Institution on the occasion of August 1 — “Day of the Azerbaijani Alphabet and Language.”
The main purpose of the event was to highlight the important role of the Azerbaijani language as the state language in society, to promote national and spiritual values and language culture, to emphasize the importance of preserving the mother tongue and passing it on to future generations, as well as to draw attention to the role of the Azerbaijani alphabet in shaping and preserving national identity. At the same time, strengthening feelings of respect and love for the mother tongue among the youth and promoting correct and fluent speech culture were among the primary directions of the event. Speaking at the event, Fazila Huseynova, an employee of the “Keshikchidagh” State Historical and Cultural Reserve, noted that the Azerbaijani language is a vital spiritual asset preserving the national identity, historical memory, and cultural heritage of our people. Other speakers also discussed the historical development path of the Azerbaijani alphabet, the role of alphabet changes in national and cultural processes, and the development perspectives of the Azerbaijani language in modern times. Furthermore, they emphasized the necessity of preserving the richness and purity of the mother tongue, its correct usage, and especially strengthening the connection of the younger generation to our language and national cultural heritage. In conclusion, the importance of continuing educational and awareness-raising events aimed at protecting, developing, and properly passing on our mother tongue and national alphabet to future generations was emphasized.
