An Educational Event Was Held on the Occasion of July 22 — National Press Day
On the occasion of July 22 — National Press Day, an educational event was held under the joint organization of the “Keshikchidagh” State Historical and Cultural Reserve—managed by the State Service for Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture—alongside the Aghstafa Youth House, and the Aghstafa District Youth and Sports Sector of the Gazakh-Tovuz Regional Youth and Sports Department. The event was attended by specialists in the fields of press and culture, history teachers, district intellectuals, youth, and representatives of the public. The primary objective of the event was to highlight the rich historical trajectory of the Azerbaijani national press, the role of media in public enlightenment and the preservation of national-spiritual values, as well as to emphasize the importance of collaboration between media outlets and cultural institutions in promoting cultural heritage. Prior to the commencement of the event, the cherished memory of the architect and founder of independent Azerbaijan, National Leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as all martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of our Motherland, was observed with a minute of silence. Subsequently, the speakers elaborated on the rich legacy of Hasan bey Zardabi, the founder of the Azerbaijani national press, noting that the newspaper “Akinchi” (The Ploughman), published on July 22, 1875, laid the groundwork for the national press in our country. It was emphasized that throughout history, the national press has played a vital role in educating society, shaping national identity, promoting statehood ideals, and advancing public discourse. Furthermore, the speeches specially highlighted the invaluable role of contemporary media in protecting and promoting cultural heritage, raising public awareness of historical and cultural monuments, and transmitting national-spiritual values to future generations.
