The Sariyokhush kurgans were recorded during archaeological rescue excavations and surveys conducted between late December 2020 and February 2021 within the protected area. These burial mounds were identified as part of the archaeological research conducted under the project “Scientific-Archaeological Excavations and Summer School 1 in Kesikchi Dag.”
The Sariyokhush kurgans are covered with soil and stone, with diameters reaching 20-28 meters. Within the territory of the Keshikchidagh State Historical and Cultural Reserve, archaeological investigations were carried out at the stone-covered Kurgans No. 1 and No. 2 in the Sariyokhush Valley. These excavations were led by Dr. Parviz Gasimov, an archaeologist and PhD in history from the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan.
