The first phase of works of the paleolithic archaeological expedition of the Institute of Archeology and Anthropology of ANAS is nearing completion. So, as a result of these studies, an area of the Paleolithic period, tentatively called “Lake Jandar Paleolithic Workshop”, was discovered in the territory of the “Keshikchidagh” State Historical-Cultural Reserve, 950 meters south of Jandar Lake, 320 meters above sea level. The second stage of the scientific research and archaeological excavations carried out by the reserve is planned to start in September of this year, as the stone age scientists conducting archaeological excavations in the territory of the reserve have started research in the direction of the Azikh and Taghlar caves located in Karabakh. It is expected that foreign specialists, including the stone age experts of Russian Academy of Sciences on the Stone Age, will be involved in these studies.
