March 16. Today is Torpag Chershenbe, the last among Novruz Chershenbe.


This Chershenbe, popularly known as “Yer (land) Chershenbesi”, “Ilakhir (last) Chershenbe”, the land wakes up, the soil breathes, gets ready for sowing. Holiday tables are set in all houses, various dishes are prepared, mainly pilaf, sweets: pakhlava, shekerbura, shekerchoreyi, shorgoghali. In the middle of the khoncha, semeni, candles for each member of family and painted eggs are placed. With the arrival of spring, a bonfire is lit in the courtyards today, and people believe that they jumped over the fire and burned the old year’s troubles.
