From the fauna of the reserve…

Due to the relief and climate of the “Keshikchidagh” State historical and cultural reserve, a large number of reptiles are often found here. Reptiles are animals that crawl on their stomachs (snakes and legless lizards) or that can lift their bodies off the ground with their short feet. The body temperature of reptiles is not constant, it varies according to the temperature of the surrounding air. Reptiles include snakes, turtles, beak-headed, and lizards. Lizards are a subgroup of animal belonging to the group of scaled of the reptile class. There are 3,750 species of lizards in the world in all sizes and shapes – from small geckos to 3-meter chest of drawers dragon (winged lizards). There are 27 species in Azerbaijan.
