The administration and staff of the “Keshikchidagh” and “Avey” State Historical and Cultural Reserves carried out a scientific familiarization visit to the “Ganja” State Historical and Cultural Reserve, operating in the city of Ganja, in accordance with the work plan approved for the first half of 2026 by the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture.
The main purpose of the visit was to strengthen the exchange of scientific experience among reserves operating in different regions of the country, to closely ознакомиться with modern approaches applied in the protection of material and cultural heritage, and to expand opportunities for mutual cooperation.
Within the framework of the visit, the reserve staff first visited the Nizami Ganjavi Museum, where they became closely acquainted with the rich exposition on display. Through archaeological materials, manuscript samples, miniatures, sculptures, and examples of applied arts exhibited in the museum, detailed information was obtained about the life, творчество, and universal ideas of the prominent representative of Azerbaijani literature, Nizami Ganjavi. The exposition attracted attention not only as a reflection of the great thinker’s literary heritage but also as an important source demonstrating the richness and artistic-aesthetic values of medieval Azerbaijani culture.
Later, the staff visited the Mausoleum of Nizami. Here, detailed information was provided about the architectural features of the mausoleum, the restoration and reconstruction works carried out in different periods, as well as the exceptional position of Nizami Ganjavi in Azerbaijani and world literature.
As part of the visit program, the participants also ознакомились with material and cultural artifacts exhibited in the territory of the Ancient Ganja Fortress. The exhibits presented here — Ganja-Gazakh carpets, traditional national costumes, as well as artistic portraits of prominent Azerbaijani figures created using mosaic techniques — vividly demonstrate the rich historical and cultural heritage of the region. These exhibits have played an important role in shaping the ancient craftsmanship traditions, aesthetic taste, and national cultural identity of the Ganja-Gazakh region.
During the visit, mutual discussions were held between the parties, and experiences were exchanged regarding the organization of reserve activities, protection of material and cultural heritage, conduct of scientific research, and mechanisms for public presentation.
