On October 12, 2005, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, who was in the Agstafa region during the opening of the State Border Point on the border with Georgia, got acquainted with these material and cultural monuments and for the purpose of deeper study, preservation and propaganda of them on December 19 In 2007, by his decree, the part of the Keshikchidag cave complex, located in the Agstafa region, was declared the State historical and cultural complex “Keshikchidag”. In honor of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the highest point of the region in strategic terms was named “peak under the name of Ilham Aliyev”.
