The main sources of this locust are Jeyranchol, Harami plain, Garasu, Padarchol and others areas.

As the Keshikchidagh caves complex is located in the Jeyranchol area, locusts are more common in the reserve during the summer months.

Locusts spend the winter in the egg stage, in special cages at a depth of 2-7 cm in the soil. Females lay 2-3 eggs and each egg contains 18-48 eggs. Locust larvae begin to appear in late March and early April. Depending on the environment, the larvae complete their development in 30-60 days, while the adult females feed for 2-3 months and die by laying eggs.

Locusts are poikiloter organisms, their body temperatures as well as their behavior are highly dependent on the ambient temperature.

Locusts

Locusts are insects belonging to the genus Locust.

…

[5
