It also aimed to present the outcomes of recent archaeological investigations conducted within the Keshikchidagh reserve and surrounding areas, while contributing to the advancement of both domestic and international scholarly collaboration. The seminar was attended by postgraduate students from the Qazax Center of ADA University, faculty and students from the Qazax branch of Baku State University, local history teachers, the staff of the “Avey” State Historical and Cultural Reserve, senior specialists for the Aghstafa and Qazax districts from the Ganja Regional Department of the State Service of Cultural Heritage Conservation, Development and Restoration, along with members of the local intelligentsia. As part of the event, an exhibition was unveiled showcasing material culture artifacts recovered from barrows (kurgans) located within the reserve, alongside academic publications detailing ongoing scientific projects. The display featured the illustrated guidebook titled “Our Cultural Heritage: Keshikchidagh,” specialized brochures, booklets, flyers, and volumes compiling the archaeological and scientific research results achieved by the ANAS Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology. The exhibited artifacts provided a vivid, tangible insight into the daily life, economic activities, material culture, and millennia-long historical evolution of the region’s ancient inhabitants. The international seminar commenced with an opening address by Yegana Goyushlu, a staff member of the Qazax Center of ADA University, who welcomed the participants and emphasized the vital role of such academic platforms in fostering the region’s intellectual and scientific potential. Subsequently, Musa Mursaguliyev, Director of the “Keshikchidagh” State Historical and Cultural Reserve, delivered a speech highlighting the strategic importance of the event, the scientific outcomes of the excavations conducted within the reserve and the wider region, and the imperative of cultural heritage preservation. During the academic sessions, Professor Najaf Museyibli, Doctor of Historical Sciences and Head of Department at the ANAS Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology, who leads the archaeological excavations in the Eynalli village of the Aghstafa district, delivered a comprehensive report on the groundbreaking scientific discoveries made in the region in recent years. Leading research fellows from the ANAS Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology, Doctors of Philosophy (PhD) in History Azad Zeynalov and Yagub Mammadov, presented on the scientific investigations carried out at Stone Age sites, including open-air settlements in Jeyranchol, the Damjili and Dash Salahli caves, Yataq Yeri, and other prominent monuments. Furthermore, Dr. Anar Aghalarzade, a leading research fellow at the same institute, addressed methodologies concerning the conservation of material culture samples, the curation of museum expositions, and effective public exhibition strategies. Arkeologist Lola Huseynova, a senior research fellow at the ANAS Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology and member of the joint Azerbaijani-Italian expedition, provided details on the excavations at the Tavatapa settlement in the Aghstafa district. Conducted under the leadership of Dr. Bakhtiyar Jalilov (Head of Department at the ANAS Institute) in collaboration with the University of Catania, her presentation focused on the significance of the archaeological layers and the site’s historical utility as a sacred temple complex. The discussions were further enriched by contributions from other local and foreign expedition members active at the Tavatapa site, including Hasan Alizade and Agil Aliyev from the Department of Archaeology of New Construction Sites, alongside international researchers from Rome Sapienza University and CAMNES (Center for Ancient Mediterranean and Near Eastern Studies)—archaeologist Alice Mendola, and fellow archaeologists Roberta Sanna, Borgesi Aurora, Emanuela Scalisi, Ciacera Macauda Dario, and La Causa Giulia. Additionally, Ismayil Omarli, the Chief Fund Keeper of the “Keshikchidagh” State Historical and Cultural Reserve, presented a paper dedicated to the ancient history and archaeological monuments of the region. The academic presentations introduced new scientific data on Stone Age settlements, barrows, ancient fortifications, and other archaeological landmarks of the region, sparking productive deliberations on the research findings. The insights and proposals articulated by the participants carry substantial weight for the strategic mapping of future, large-scale archaeological explorations in the area. In conclusion, organizers noted that such scientific seminars and exhibitions play an essential role in promoting the nation’s rich cultural legacy, disseminating scientific knowledge to the public, and inspiring the younger generation’s interest in history and archaeology. These initiatives significantly contribute to a deeper understanding of the region’s ancient past, the internationalization of academic networks, and the formation of new collaborative frameworks in the field of cultural heritage preservation.

On June 18, 2026, an exhibition and an international scientific seminar titled “Ancient History and Archaeology of Our Region: New Research and Scientific Results” was held through the joint organization of the “Keshikchidagh” State Historical and Cu…

[5
