On June 16, 2026, an educational round-table discussion was organized within the framework of the “Human Rights Month” at the administrative building of the “Keshikchidagh” State Historical and Cultural Reserve, operating under the management of the State Service for Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture.
\nThe event was attended by Azad Zeynalov and Yagub Mammadov, leading researchers at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and Doctors of Philosophy (PhD) in History. The primary objective of the round table was to conduct an exchange of views aimed at the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms Enhancing the role of civil society in constitutional state-building
\nExamining the historical development stages of human rights. Analyzing the correlation between the preservation of national-spiritual values and human rights strengthening legal awareness and education across various strata of society. The speakers noted that the ensurance of human rights and freedoms constitutes one of the core principles of modern democratic societies. From this perspective, the reforms implemented in the Republic of Azerbaijan in the field of human rights protection, the optimization of legal mechanisms, and the development of legal culture are considered priority areas of state policy. It was emphasized that legal education initiatives significantly contribute to increasing citizens’ awareness regarding their rights and responsibilities, fostering a legal mindset within society, and consolidating a culture of respect for human rights. Within the scope of the event, extensive discussions were held regarding the historical roots of human rights, the nexus between the protection of cultural heritage and fundamental rights, the socio-legal responsibility aspects of transmitting cultural heritage sites to future generations, and the significance of international experience in this field. It was underlined that the preservation of historical and cultural heritage is not merely a constituent of cultural policy, but also an essential component of the human right to maintain and develop one’s cultural identity.
\nIn conclusion, the inquiries raised by the reserve staff were addressed, and the importance of continuously organizing such events in the field of human rights promotion and legal education was highlighted. The event concluded in an atmosphere of mutual exchange of ideas and academic deliberations.<\/p>\n
