Pearls of Shusha....

One of the pearls of Shusha, the crown of Karabakh, is Saatli Mosque. The Saatli mosque was built in 1883 by architect Karbalayi Safikhan Garabaghi on the site of a mosque and madrasa built by Panahali khan in 1759 in Shusha. The mosque is so named because it was built in the Saatli neighborhood of Shusha. Although it was a Saatli neighborhood mosque, it differed from other neighborhood mosques in the city in size, architectural structure, and decorative design. The general structure of the minarets of the mosque is similar to the minarets of the Yukhari Govharagha and the Aghdam Juma Mosque. The interior design of the mosque can be considered an example of artistic perfection. The prayer hall has four octagonal stone pillars supporting the ceiling and has a triple space. As a result, an infinite number of arches appear in the hall. The surface of the walls is decorated with geometric figures and floral patterns. The only minaret of the mosque was built at the back of the building. It is believed that the minaret was erected not at the same time as the mosque, but later.
