One of the permanent residents of Keshikchidagh caves complex is ants. More than 160 species are known in the Caucasus and about 90 in Azerbaijan. When ants return to their nests after finding food, they mark their path with chemical marks through the secretory juices at the end of their bodies. This signal is also important for other individuals to leave the nest immediately when a danger is approached.
